Project Integrate+: sustainable forest management and enhancing biodiversity


 

Matthias Schmitt (Bund Deutscher Forstleute) participated to the Conference “Integration of biodiversity enhancement in sustainable forest management in the framework of the EU Forest Strategy” in Prague, 5th to 7th of October 2016.

In a BDF article he expressed that he was impressed by the many interesting forest management concepts in Europe which aim at enhancing biodiversity. “In order to implement such concepts we need good practical knowledge but also we must convince and show that forest management and biodiversity can well go hand in hand. Tools like the Marteloscope, and its corresponding virtual software applications”, he says, “represent important vehicles for demonstration, leaning and training. We should ensure to make best use of the outcomes of the Integarte+ project”, he concludes.
